Sakal Media Group has embarked on a journey to encourage the little Olympians by giving them a platform to unfurl their unmatched zeal for sports. A unique sports initiative, the Schoolympics, targeted 300 schools of Pune in 2014, expanding the count over the years.

We at ABIL Group, take immense pleasure in reinforcing the cause for sports education and feels privileged to be an active supporter of Schoolympics 2016. The motive of this commencement is to cultivate a sporting spirit within school children, paving way for versatile growth by giving them an opportunity to exhibit their talents in various sports including basketball, cricket, hockey, kabaddi, gymnastics, and many more. Kabaddi courts at the Nehru Stadium played host to the opening ceremony of this biggest inter-school sporting spectacle.

This thrilling extravaganza had 2231 medals to be won, across 402 sports categories in 21 disciplines. The, matches and events were organized over a span of 32 days. 30,252 talented participants from 413 schools made the event a success. Abhinava Vidyalaya English Medium School, Erandwane, emerged victorious based on the points garnered from the medals that the children bagged. Sinhagad Spring Dale School, Ambegaon was declared the 1st Runners-Up, with Boys Sports Coy & School, Kirkee following next as 2nd Runners-Up.
